Action Jackson's

CARRIE.jpg

We’re all envious of Carrie Bradshaw. She has the shoes, she has the connections, and she has that amazing apartment in Manhattan that we can’t figure out how she affords. We’d hate her if we hadn’t devoted the past 10 years of our lives wanting to be like her and her three best friends. With the release of the Sex and the City (SATC) movie, we are reminded of high fashion, city life and most importantly the value of friendship and evenings on the town with the girls.
If Carrie took up residence in Nashville, she would take her best friends to Jackson’s Bar & Bistro. Located in the heart of Hillsboro Village and just across the street from great boutiques, it’s the perfect atmosphere for dinner and drinks or a late night out.
I don’t recall the episode when the SATC girls ordered a round of Diet Cokes. Martinis, Manhattans and Flirtinis were fixtures as permanent as Carrie’s Manolo Blahniks. Jackson’s offers an elaborate drink menu that includes cocktails and a wide variety of beer and wines. Have you ever taken one of those “Which SATC character are you?” quizzes? It’s OK. We all have. I just took one and found out I am an equal 30 percent Carrie, Miranda and Samantha and 10 percent Charlotte. I believe that no matter which character you most identify with, you will discover your niche at Jackson’s.

“Carries” should try Jackson’s French martini. When vodka, pineapple juice and Chambord are shaken together, the result is a smooth, fruit-flavored drink, sweet but strong ... just like Carrie! You will also love the pomegranate margarita. Like something José Cuervo came up with after a week at a health spa, the fruit-infused take on the original margarita is absolutely fabulous.

Lovable Charlotte ladies will enjoy the Nantucket Sunset made with Chambord, vodka, cranberry juice and sours. A tall drink of sunshine, it’s as pleasant as Charlotte’s personality. “Charlottes” will also love ordering from the wine list. From Cono Sur Pinot Noir to Matchbook Chardonnay, you will find a good selection of reds and whites.

For the “Samanthas,” Jackson’s makes a great dirty martini. Served in a chilled glass with two large olives, this martini talks dirty ... I highly recommend it! Ladies who, like Samantha, will “try anything once,” should take a shot at the Red Rover. Made with Sailor Jerry rum, Chambord and red wine, three favorites come together for a bold blend of refreshment.

Cynical Miranda types won’t have anything to complain about when they spy the beer list, which includes Nashville’s own Jackson’s Pale Ale on draft and a variety of bottles from Highland Oatmeal Porter to Red Stripe. Sometimes only a beer will do, but rest assured if you are in the mood for a cocktail, the Nu-Grape Martini will give you a sexy drink with a strong kick. Sip in the flavors of grape vodka, Sprite and sours garnished with a frozen grape.
Gossip and catch up on everyone’s love life over appetizers of sesame barbeque feathers and crab cakes or the spinach-garlic verde dip. Enjoy a dinner of salad, seafood, sandwiches, steak, pasta or paninis. The ahi wasabi Caesar salad is one of my favorites as is the portabella cheesesteak.
Enjoy your time with the ones who know you best. Just like Mr. Big described Carrie’s friends, yours too are “the loves of your life, and a guy’s just lucky to come in fourth.”
